"During the Classic Horizon in Mesoamerica in the West, those groups living in Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, and Guerrero managed to produce a ceramic ware of extraordinary quality, with styles characteristic of each place.  Large and elegant hollow figures are typical of this period, as are innumerable small figurines, which have provided valuable sociological information through their representation of numerous activities and varying styles of dress, adornment, and customs."
