This 36 caliber, 21" with octagon barrel is basically a homemade rifle, a composition of parts from a wide range of time periods.  Overall appearance indicates it was constructed somewhere in the mid 1800s.
"This particular firearm serves as a great example of those used by the Native American Indian during this turbulent period."
